Editing

Developmental and Copyediting

As a developmental editor, I listen to clients' goals and processes to understand the unique ways that they generate material, with the aim of facilitating greater ease in the writing process. Our work together provide tools for thinking about research in new ways, managing time, moving through blocks, and designing effective work environments. Informed by crip and anti-oppressive pedagogy practices with knowledge of Universal Design for Learning, I am committed to 1. getting to know a writer's learning, work, and communication styles and tailoring editing to meet them, 2. making hidden scripts in higher education explicit and providing manageable guides toward following them, and 3. providing accessible forms of support that ultimately encourage multiply marginalized scholars' success in the academy. I have a PhD in Performance Studies from UC Berkeley with a Designated Emphasis in Gender and Women's Studies. My experience includes editing for special issues of journals, helping clients plan out a project from the sparks of an idea, supporting writers through the revision process, and preparing a document for publication.

As a writer, I have published across arts, humanities, and social sciences. I have four years of experience editing job search and grant materials and six years of experience editing chapter and article drafts. In addition, I have taught eight semesters of intensive writing and research course and facilitated multiple working groups focused on composition pedagogy, development of job market materials, and constructing book proposals. My copyediting support was acknowledged by Abigail De Kosnik in her book Rogue Archives: Digital Culture Memory and Media Fandom
